The "Soviet 7.62x39mm Bakelite Magazine" is a polymer magazine of Soviet origin.[6][7]

Overview[]

It's commonly called Bakelite, but it's actually made out of glass reinforced polymer. It was lighter than standard steel magazine, and also it's body was rust proof. That's why Soviets started using them in cold weather conditions, becouse normal steel mags would rust on the inside of the body and cause malfunctions. It was more expensive to produce so only Soviet Union adopted them to use for their military.
